Our Big Spring Story
Big Spring, Howard County — about 40 miles east of Midland along I-20 — is a special place for our company. (Not to be confused with Spring, TX, the Houston-area suburb.) Some of the kindest folks I've ever worked for live out in Highland South and Kentwood. These are families who've been in their homes 30, 40 years - they remember when Big Spring was bigger, when the refinery was running full tilt, when downtown was bustling.
I remember Mrs. Patterson over on Edwards Heights. She called because her gutters hadn't been touched in five years. When I got up there, it looked like snow in the gutters - cottonwood fluff packed solid, mixed with dust and leaves, turned into this thick mat. Took me half a day just to get it all out.
